3 Dream Castles in the Land of Manors

We invite you to "enter" three dream castles in Covasna County, steeped in history, tradition, relaxation, and romance. The journey begins far from the hustle and bustle of the cities in the tranquil realm of welcoming manors and castles.
-
Zabola Estate – Zăbala The historic domains of the Mikes family are among those dream castles in Covasna County that make you feel like you're in a Monet painting, where the abundance of colors amazes you and transports you straight to the 1920s. Some even say they've seen Hercule Poirot sneaking out of the living room. The location has been the family's residence for 600 years, and buildings from different eras, used for guest accommodation, are situated in a 50-hectare park. Despite the most radical reform of the 1920s decimating the results of centuries of work, the Mikes family continues the 600-year tradition of restoring Zăbala Estate to its former glory.

Castle Hotel Daniel – Tălișoara Built in the first half of the 17th century, Castle Hotel Daniel has been declared a historical monument. The centuries-old walls of the Tălişoara castle seem to whisper untold stories to this day. When you look at its mural paintings, a fascinating world of nobility from days gone by unfolds before your eyes. At Castle Hotel Daniel, the enchantment of times past perfectly blends with contemporary comfort, and delicious reinterpretations of dishes are served in the restaurant. Each of the eight rooms in the castle has its own story to tell. Natural stone walls, wooden beams, aristocratic furniture, and medieval sounds. The medieval atmosphere is strongly felt in the Castle Gate Room. Its history derives from the traces left by the castle gate itself, where the guardian watched over the majestic location.
-
Kalnoky Castle – Micloșoara Among the most important castles and manors in Covasna County is Kalnoky Castle in Micloșoara, where the Museum of Transylvanian Life is located. The history of the castle and the family bearing this name spans over five centuries. However, the museum aims to do more than reconstruct the history of a family. The owners have undertaken the unique initiative of showing what the life of the nobility in the area meant through objects recovered, donated, or purchased, from authentic weapons used in Kalnoky's battles with the Turks to spectacular stoves, reconstructions of period clothing, and even an original Streicher piano, the same model used by Johannes Brahms. The museum occupies the entire ground floor of the former hunting manor in Micloșoara.
