Poiana Brașov, Brașov County
Poiana Brașov is the perfect destination for skiers who appreciate variety. With slopes for all levels of experience and modern facilities, it's an excellent choice for those looking to improve their skills.
In the 2023/2024 season, the slopes opened on November 30th.
"You will be able to ski in the upper area of the Lupului and Drumul Roșu slopes, exiting towards the Ruia chairlift station (the 6-seat chairlift), as well as on the Kanzel and Doamnei slopes, with an exit to Drumul Roșu, then towards the Ruia chairlift. Also, the beginner slopes, Bradul and Stadion, will be open.
The condition of the slopes is very good, especially as recent negative temperatures have allowed the non-stop operation of the artificial snow-making facilities, supplemented by snowfall. Under these conditions, intensive work has been done in the last few days to make the opening of the slopes possible.
The layer of packed snow on the upper part of the mountain slopes has a thickness of 30 centimeters and an average width of 20 meters," the Brașov City Hall has reported in this context.

The ski slope in Borșa resort, located on the northern slope of the Rodnei Mountains, has existed since 1940, at least as an idea. It might be interesting to know that the project started with the desire to host the Winter Olympics here, planned for 1948, but the dream was not realized because the war started in the meantime.
Today, the ski area is equipped with a gondola lift, with a transport capacity of 1,800 people per hour. It has 33 snow cannons and night skiing facilities.
