4. The Tallest Bell Tower in Țara Bârsei

Today, the fortress proudly boasts the tallest bell tower in Țara Bârsei. It stands at 56 meters tall and was built around the year 1300.

In 1794, modifications were undertaken on the tower's roof, eliminating the defense gallery. Next to the main peak of the roof, four corner turrets were added, which were a distant visible sign that the locality had the right to pronounce and carry out the death sentence," states the touristic site of the fortress.

The bells are not the original ones because they were taken and melted by the army in 1916/1917 however, they were replaced.

The bells in the tower today were acquired in 1923 and 1925, respectively. The large bell from 1923 was defective and replaced in 1925, and it now serves as a commemorative monument in the western portal area. The bell in the gate tower dates back to 1608 and is now the oldest in Hărman.
