For our souls, which have longed for color and light throughout the winter, these green spaces are more than just tourist destinations. They are places where time takes on a different dimension, a necessary retreat far from the city noise and the screens that occupy our daily lives.
Bucharest: "Dimitrie Brândză" Botanical Garden
A true oasis of peace right in the heart of the capital, the Bucharest Botanical Garden, managed by the University of Bucharest, is the ideal place for an unforgettable stroll. It covers 18 hectares and is divided into 12 different sectors, so everyone can find something to their liking. Here you can admire over 10,000 plant species, many of which are very rare. A major attraction is the impressive greenhouses, which house fascinating exotic species, from giant palms to carnivorous plants. The garden's old greenhouse was built at the beginning of the 20th century, following the plans of famous greenhouses in Liège (Belgium). The Botanical Museum also operates inside, and it is fascinating: it has 20 rooms filled with exhibits about the world of plants. A simple walk takes you through the whole country: you can see plants from the Danube Delta, and then, just a few steps later, those from the mountains. In spring, the garden is a spectacle of color thanks to millions of tulips and roses.

Cluj-Napoca: "Alexandru Borza" Botanical Garden
One of the most beautiful botanical gardens in Europe and a true jewel of the city of Cluj. Founded in 1872 at the initiative of Hungarian linguist Sámuel Brassai, the garden is managed today by the "Babeș-Bolyai" University and represents the perfect refuge for relaxation and disconnection during a city break in the heart of Transylvania. The garden covers 14 hectares and hosts over 10,000 plant species from all over the world. In spring, the place becomes magical. The Japanese Garden is the visitors' favorite spot, with its tranquil lakes and vegetation blooming under the sun. If you make it to Cluj-Napoca, you must see the Roman Garden with its ancient ruins and the spectacular palm greenhouse. If you want a view from above over the entire garden, climb the water tower. It is a place where you can enjoy every shade of green.

Iași: "Anastasie Fătu" Botanical Garden
This is the oldest botanical garden in Romania, founded in 1856 on Copou Hill. With an area of nearly 90 hectares, it is one of the largest in all of Europe. In spring, the garden is a place full of life and color, famous for its huge collections of tulips and peonies. The garden holds the largest collection of roses in the country, with over 800 varieties. Also here, you can admire two silver lime trees planted in 1981, which are direct descendants of the famous "Eminescu's Linden Tree" in Copou Park. This legendary tree, a symbol of Iași, is 540 years old and survived miraculously thanks to a rare biological phenomenon: adventitious roots grew through the interior of the rotten trunk, thus saving the life of the tree. In addition to hundreds of rare flower species, you will find here a complex of modern greenhouses. If you are in Iași, a walk on the generous alleys of Copou is one of the simplest and best ways to connect with peace and nature.

Banpotoc: "I Giardini di Zoe"
"I Giardini di Zoe" is not just a botanical garden, but a place seemingly torn from the pages of a storybook, located a short distance from the city of Deva. The garden was created by Giovanni Salvatelli, who transformed this place into a green paradise in honor of his granddaughter, Zoe. The garden covers 3 hectares and impresses in every season. Its Italian style, with orderly alleys, carefully trimmed hedges, and carefully chosen flowers, creates the feeling of a royal garden in Italy. It is the perfect place if you want to take superb photos or simply walk in a setting that looks like a painting. If you are visiting Hunedoara County, "I Giardini di Zoe" is a stop you must not miss.

Why is it important to visit botanical gardens in spring?
There is a concept called "biophilia" – our innate need to connect with nature. After long months of winter, our brain longs for greenery. Studies show that a simple visit to a botanical garden reduces cortisol levels (the stress hormone) and improves mood. In spring, when chlorophyll floods the young leaves, the level of energy we receive from the environment is at its peak. It is the perfect moment to get out of our homes, put our phones aside, and focus on textures, colors, and scents. Each of these gardens offers a different experience depending on the time of day. We recommend visiting them during the week to enjoy complete peace or on a sunny weekend morning. Whatever destination you choose, spring in the botanical gardens of Romania is a spectacle that deserves to be seen, without exception.
Don't forget, for your adventure to be worry-free, comfort is essential. After a long day of walking among flowers and ancient trees, you need a welcoming place to rest. So, don't leave everything to the last minute! Plan your getaway in advance, book your ideal accommodation right now on stayhere.ro, and ensure you will enjoy every moment of this journey without any worries.
