Stayhere.ro, the brainchild of a Romanian startup and the country's first booking platform for sustainable accommodations, is set to mark a new chapter in domestic tourism by unveiling a groundbreaking sustainability labeling system for accommodations.

 

With the announcement of the labeling system's launch, stayhere.ro is opening its doors to accommodations interested in receiving the sustainability label. This initiative is in response to the growing demand from travelers who prioritize eco-friendly and sustainable development principles in their choice of stay. Accommodations are invited to register by filling out a form available on the website www.stayhere.ro.

 

Grüman Róbert, co-founder of stayhere.ro, emphasized, “Launching our labeling system is a significant step for Romanian tourism. We aim to show that tourism can and should be a vehicle for sustainable development. Now, through stayhere.ro, environmentally-conscious travelers can make ethical accommodation choices. Stayhere.ro is more than just a booking tool; it’s a champion for responsible tourism. The platform stands out with a unique questionnaire, developed by sustainable development experts, featuring 17 questions based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), enabling the labeling of accommodations as sustainable.”

 

In this context, stayhere.ro is positioning itself as a pioneer in making Romanian tourism greener, more ethical, and sustainable, offering travelers the chance to support accommodations that are committed to sustainable development. The platform will be available to tourists in early October and will provide easy online booking solutions, promoting trust and safety.

 

The idea to create a startup that promotes Romanian tourism was a result of the population's positive response to digitalization, especially after the pandemic. Co-founders Grüman Róbert and Béres Norbert secured European funding of 100,000 euros through the STUDENT STARTUP 1.0 - Innotech Student program with the business plan for the stayhere.ro platform.

 

Stayhere.ro also accepts payments via vacation vouchers, revolutionizing how Romanians plan their holiday periods. With the slogan "You have the voucher, we have the vacation," stayhere.ro simplifies the booking process and allows for instant online payments, including using vacation vouchers.

 

The already launched travel blog, blog.stayhere.ro, is part of this project. It offers rich informational content designed to inspire travelers to explore Romania's beauty.

 

About the co-founders

 

Grüman Róbert is an entrepreneur experienced in business development and digital tourism. During the pandemic, he contributed to tourism development with the "Visit Covasna Safe Place" campaign. As a board member of the Federation of Tourism Promotion Associations in Romania, he advocated for domestic tourism and was appointed as an expert by the Council of Europe to draft a report on the impact of home-sharing platforms in tourism.

 

Béres Norbert began his career volunteering in youth organizations, progressing through various positions and roles in several organizations. During his studies, he traveled through the Erasmus+ program and visited over 15 European countries. These experiences inspired him, and after graduating, he began implementing his ideas. He's an advocate for responsible and sustainable tourism, a fan of traveling to lesser-known areas of the country, and supports eco-friendly practices in tourism.
