Live on Euronews: The Path to Eco-Friendly Tourism and Travel
The strong commitment towards sustainability will revolutionize Romanian tourism, stated Grüman Róbert, co-founder of the stayhere.ro start-up, in an interview with Euronews Romania. This platform will provide tourists with the opportunity to select the most eco-friendly vacation options available.

Invited to the show 'A venit vremea' on Euronews Romania, Grüman Róbert emphasized that currently there are no concrete data to clearly analyze trends regarding ecotourism in the country, but globally it is clear that environmentally friendly vacations are the future. 'The global trend definitely shows us that the number of tourists who want to stay in an accommodation that can be considered eco-friendly is continuously increasing. At the same time, the number of tourists who believe that sustainable development is important for tourism is also on the rise. And if we look at Romania, we can see that it has a lot to offer from this perspective,' said Grüman Róbert.

Regarding locations that promote vacations in nature, he mentioned the Ciomad - Balvanyos area, Vârghiș Gorges, or even Via Transilvanica. And precisely because of the desire to offer tourists interested in nature-friendly vacations, he became the co-founder of the online booking site stayhere.ro, his most ambitious project to date. It will offer visitors the possibility to choose accommodations based on a sustainability score. 'The platform aims to introduce a labeling system for sustainable accommodations in Romania. By completing a questionnaire of 17 questions, accommodation units can voluntarily register on the platform and will receive a sustainability score. This score will be available to tourists when making the booking decision, thus representing a significant step towards promoting sustainable tourism in Romania,' said the co-founder of stayhere.ro.

The questionnaire was developed in collaboration with experts in sustainable development and addresses the Sustainable Development Goals included in the UN strategy, which are part of the European Union's 2030 Agenda. 'This sustainability score will be visible on the presentation page of the respective accommodation and can be considered by tourists when they decide to make a reservation on the platform that will be launched in June,' further declared Grüman Róbert. The online booking platform stayhere.ro is a project started in June 2022 by Grüman Róbert and Béres Norbert. The two won European funding of 100,000 euros through the STUDENT STARTUP 1.0 – Innotech Student program.

Our project also includes a tourism blog. The blog is already beautiful and functional, blog.stayhere.ro - in both Romanian and English. New articles appear every week that can give vacation ideas to tourists who want to discover Romania. The accommodation booking platform is in development. We anticipate that we will launch it in June," said Grüman Róbert further. The stayhere.ro platform will also accept payments through holiday vouchers, thus transforming the way Romanians plan their vacation periods. With the slogan 'You have the voucher, we have the vacation', stayhere.ro will simplify the booking process and will allow instant online payment including with holiday vouchers.
