35 new specimens from 11 different species
In January, the Sibiu Zoo donated several animals to the Mureș Zoo, including a female llama and a Dexter cow.
In February, two fallow deer and a maned sheep arrived, courtesy of the Bârlad Zoo.
Recently, even more animal species have arrived at Târgu Mureș from the Zoo in Nyíregyháza.
Among these are: “a spider monkey (new species), three harlequin macaws (new species), one blue-and-yellow macaw, one green-winged macaw (new species), and four military macaws. Additionally, we are announcing the arrival of a new bird species, namely a Barren Ground goose.
Last but not least, it's our pleasure to announce that thirteen fallow deer and six Carpathian deer have arrived from Ljubljana. Thus, in total, we now have 35 new animal specimens belonging to 11 different species,” the coordinators of the Târgu Mureș Zoo recently announced.

Online and a click away from visitors
Among the novelties of the Zoo is the launch of the brand new Târgu Mureș Zoo mobile app.
"The app was developed by a team of 50 volunteers, who participated in a 24-hour Hackathon organized by the We Care We Grow Association in Târgu Mureș on December 9-10, 2023. The new app was presented on March 2, during the Limitl3SS conference in Târgu Mureș, designed to make the visitor experience more beautiful and enjoyable.

Summer schedule
Those interested in experiencing nature up close should know that the Târgu Mureș Zoo has implemented its summer schedule.
This means that from March 1st to October 31st, the Târgu Mureș Zoo is open from 09:00 to 18:00 (last entry at 18:00, last exit at 19:00).
The Târgu Mureș Zoo opened in 1964. On the opening day, August 23, 1964, the entire animal population consisted of 3 wolves, 2 bears, 2 wild boars, 2 pheasants, and a deer.
According to the official website, the Mureș Zoo now spans 42 hectares. It is home to approximately 800 animals, representing over 150 local and exotic species.
